Bring Focus

Press it and everyone else in the room is offered a jump to it, on your tab.

On a big canvas, "look at the thing in the bottom right" doesn't work: everybody is scrolled somewhere different. Bring Focus is the button that fixes it. Press it and everyone else in the room is offered a jump to exactly where it sits.

Adding one

In Facilitate mode, open the Navigate category on the palette strip.
Pick Bring Focus, beside the Portal, the Chair and the Link card.

Drop it where you want people looking, and give it a label (it reads "Bring Focus" until you do). "The problem" or "Start here" reads better than four identical buttons.

Bring Focus is in the palette in Diagram and Draw mode. Unlike most Collaborate elements it has no … on its face, since there is nothing to set beyond its label and colours: right-click it for those.

What happens when you press it

Everyone else in the room gets a dialog, Sam wants you to look at something, with Not now and Take me there buttons.

What everyone else sees: nothing moves until they choose Take me there.

Nothing on their screen moves until they press it. When they do, their view moves so that spot is in the middle of their screen. Their zoom stays as they had it, so it suits their own screen size, whether that's a phone or a big monitor. If the button is on a different tab, it takes them there first.

Your own view doesn't move: you're already looking at it. You get a one-line note telling you what the press did: "Asked everyone else to look here", "Everyone else is already looking at it", or "Nobody else is on this canvas right now".

Press it as often as you like

Anyone already looking at the spot, at any zoom, doesn't get the dialog at all. So a second press catches the people who arrived late or said Not now the first time, without interrupting the people who came. If somebody took it and has since panned away, they're offered it again, because they're no longer looking at it.

Why it asks instead of dragging everyone

A jump that arrived unasked would land in the middle of whatever somebody was doing, and half-typed notes get lost that way. The invitation costs the room one click and takes nothing away from anyone.

The invitation replaces any earlier one, because the room only has one current "look at this", and it fades after a minute so it's never answering a question from two topics ago.

Who can use it

Anyone with edit rights. Moving everyone's view is part of running the session, so people on a Participant or Viewer share link see the button but can't press it.

The one exception is a facilitated session: while somebody holds the facilitator role, only they can press it, because "everybody look here" is the same act as "everybody stop and listen".

Bring Focus is a one-off jump. If you want people to stay on your shoulder as you move around, they can Follow you from Collaborators instead. See Following someone.
