The zoom controls sit at the end of the cluster in the bottom-right corner of the canvas, after Undo and Redo, the session tools, any mode or Collaborate buttons, and Layers with the Theme & canvas button, and govern how close you are to what is on it. The infinite canvas can hold far more than one screenful, so zoom is how you move between the detail and the big picture.
The controls
- Zoom out / Zoom in: step 10% further or closer.
- The percentage button: shows the current level. Click it to fit the whole canvas in view at once, the quickest way to get your bearings after panning around. Hover it for a popover of preset levels (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 150%, plus Fit to screen) and pick one to jump straight there (100% is true size).
Zoom runs from 10% to 500%. When a Sheet fills the canvas, the controls zoom the sheet instead (50% to 200%, and Fit returns it to 100%); while a Plan board or view fills it, or on a Dashboard tab, zoom is off (the controls stay, greyed; on a phone they go away).
From the keyboard and trackpad
| Keys | Does |
|---|---|
⌘+ / ⌘- | Zoom in / out |
⌘0 | Reset the zoom to 100% |
⇧1 | Zoom to fit everything on the tab |
⌘ + scroll, or a pinch | Zoom in or out |
⌘ is Ctrl on Windows and Linux. A plain two-finger scroll pans rather than zooms, and so do the Hand tool, Space + drag, and a middle-button drag. Zoom never changes the document, so it works on a view-only link too. See Pan and Zoom.
On a phone and in zen mode
On a phone the zoom buttons and the percentage are dropped to save space: pinch to zoom, and a dedicated Fit button stands in for fit-to-screen. In Zen mode everything else hides but the zoom controls stay (along with any session tools in use), joined by an Exit zen mode button.
