A sticky note is a small coloured card for a short piece of text: an idea, a question, a label, a brainstorm item. It is the digital version of the paper sticky, and it behaves like any other canvas element once placed.
Adding one
Open the Write category on the palette strip, or press N to skip the palette.
Pick Note, then tap the canvas to drop a note (200 × 200 by default, or the size of the element you had selected), or drag to draw it at the size you want.
The note is also in Plan mode's Content category.
Writing on a note
A note holds several lines of text and wraps it as you type. While you are editing, Enter starts a new line, Escape cancels the edit, and clicking away commits it. Text that outgrows the note is clipped rather than spilling out, so resize the note to show the rest, or set the text size to Scale so the text shrinks to fit.
Colours
A sticky note keeps its own colour whatever the theme: it lands in a pale amber, like a paper note, and changing the tab's theme never recolours it, because a note's colour is usually your own shorthand (ideas in yellow, risks in pink) rather than part of the diagram's palette.
To recolour one, right-click it and open Style. Its Presets are a pad of twelve note colours, each with a readable ink for its paper: Classic, Lemon, Peach, Rose, Lilac, Sky, Mint, Teal, Slate, Paper, Charcoal and Ink. Colours sets the paper and text by hand if none of them fits.
Working with them
Stickies move, resize, lock and layer like everything else. Scatter a wall of them for a brainstorm, select several at once to restyle or move them together, or pull them into a frame so the cluster travels as one.
Sticky notes pair naturally with dot voting in a live session: capture ideas on stickies, then vote on them together.
